Day 6 of the 12 days for Good – PEACE
Tired? Not enough hours in the day? Wanting to give and help out, but you know that means sacrificing something in your life because there is no room to take on 1 more thing.
How do you create peace within our community if you are stressed out, burning the candles at both ends and not feeling peace within your own heart? It is difficult. So, it is important for your own health to take time and add to your reserves. Here are a few suggestions:
- Take 20 minutes to yourself before bed – shut the computer, tv, electronic devices off and read a book or enjoy an herbal tea
- Drink WATER! Take your weight in pounds, divide by 2 and this will give you the number of ounces of water to consume per day (if you workout or drink coffee this number will have to increase)
- Give your body the tools it needs by getting lots of greens a day – helps to balance your body’s pH
- SLEEP – your body needs time to “clean house” …. give it time to do its job or you could be putting your body in a further state of stress
Allowing time to help others is important, but shouldn’t be felt as yet one more thing to do. So, take time to rejuvenate yourself, which will allow you to say “yes” to helping others and not feel like you are sacrificing important things in your own life, such as family.
Today, I looked people in the eye, smiled and from my heart wished them a great day. I know this may sound so trivial, but if you are genuine in your words, it can be felt in others and create a positive domino effect.
My husband, kids and I live in a neighborhood that is full of kind hearted, genuine, caring people that would do anything to help out, which creates a great sense of community. This is quite a contrast from our house 5 years ago, where people kept to themselves, it was a struggle to say hi and life zoomed by at mach speed! Not feeling community in which you live, can add to your overall stress.
So, as you go about your day, even though life is rushed and busy, take time to hold a door open for someone, smile, say “hi”, just think about what would uplift you in your day and pay that forward. Create a community in which everyone would like to be.
Cheers to great health!
