I couldn’t resist….
So, the CBC comes out with yet another article on cleanses, this time criticizing Dr. OZ’s 48 hour detox plan.
This articles states: “Despite bold promises that the treatments would purify, detoxify and boost energy and optimize organ function, the cleanses lacked any scientific evidence of efficacy, or clear idea of what toxins they would actually diminish.”
You know, there comes a time, when you need to STOP, and just listen to YOUR body.
This article also says that they have no idea what toxins would actually diminish on this cleanse. Let me ask you this: Do you know exactly what you ingest every single day in the way of chemicals or toxins? I am going to go out on a limb here and say “no”.
Did you know on average 50 billion pounds of chemicals are sprayed on our food every year? Can you tell me the names of all those chemicals? Again, I am going to say “no.”
So the fact that we don’t know exactly what toxins are being released and eliminated makes the whole cleansing process wrong? We are society that relies so heavily on medication to fix our problems and we spend no time trying to decipher WHY we have these problems. Aren’t you curious? I sure am!
I wonder, has the author of this article and the professors noted ever tried a 7 day cleanse?
Dr. Dresser says, “I think that there’s a lot of these things, like the detox treatments, where there isn’t substantial evidence for benefits…and yet people are using them.”
Have you ever had a sense that something was wrong? You know what I mean, just a feeling inside you that something is not quite right. Did you act on that feeling? I would venture to say that most of us at one time or another listen to that inner voice or guide. Did we go out and look for substantiated evidence before we acted? Probably not.
Look, the point is that some people may want to do a detox for a quick fix, so what? Others may see it as a turning point in their life. A vehicle to use to help them move towards better health and we are criticizing people for this? What, you want to get healthy? Shame on you!! Some people need that little plan that tells them this is what they can and cannot eat. It is sometimes easier than trying to figure out balanced meals on their own.
“We have everything we need inside of us right now” says Dr. Dresser alluding to the fact that our bodies already cleanse and detoxify quite efficiently. If you truly believe this and don’t take into account that it is death by a 1000 cuts, meaning I need one Tylenol and a cup of coffee to kick start my day, along with a glazed donut, followed by a hamburger and fries for lunch with a delicious can of diet pepsi, and another coffee at 3pm with cream and sugar ‘cause you deserve it, then top it all all with a huge dinner, followed by late night snacking and a glass of wine or beer, you are naïve to think that our bodies can handle all of this day in and day out!
What happens when the liver and kidneys start to reach maximum capacity? Did you ever think what might happen to your other 5 channels of elimination?
Did you know North Americans spend over $100 billion on digestive healthcare a year? That includes tums, exlax, cenecot, etc. So, I am thinking our liver and kidneys are a bit overburdened and not able to help detoxify and support the digestive system the way they should. What are your thoughts on this?
Our intestines feed every single cell in the body. If our intestines are not functioning properly, we have a lot of sick people walking around, wouldn’t you say?
Our bodies do have what it takes, but you need to feed it the way it was intended.
We are not a simple equation of A + B = C. We are so much more than that.
