The Secret to Anti-Aging

February 21, 2014 0 Comments

Aging is a natural process but we somehow think we can outsmart Mother Nature and side step the effects of aging.

Well, what if you worked with Mother Nature and not against her? What do I mean? Our bodies were meant to live a certain way – specific nutrients all beautifully combined to fuel the trillions of cells of our bodies. Whole foods are what nature gives us. However, we think we know better and fuel our bodies with foods that have been stripped of valuable nutrients, and substituted with synthetic ones, hydrate with every drink under the sun but water, and take as many short cuts as we can.

Anti-aging products is a huge industry!  Products to reduce wrinkles, reduce dark spots, hydrate the skin, and soothe red and irritated skin are selling like wild fire! What do all these things have in common?

The largest elimination organ – THE SKIN!

Your skin can give us clues to what is going on in our bodies and it is our job to pay attention.

So, what is the secret to anti-aging?

You need to take care of your body from the inside out, not the outside in.

Are you eliminating all the toxins that you consume and breathe in everyday? If not, why not? Take time to figure out YOUR body. What are you doing, eating, thinking, to inhibit the optimal function of your body?

Are you consuming enough fibre from whole foods? Fibre helps to stable blood sugar and eliminate toxins.

Looking to hydrate your skin? Ensure you are drinking enough water. Take your weight in pounds and divide it by 2. This is the number of ounces of water to consume (at a minimum) a day.

Want to soothe red and irritated skin? Are you consuming enough essential fatty acids (EFA’s) every single day? EFA’s boost your metabolism, increase your energy, aid your immune system and help with inflammation.

Have you heard of Acai? Otherwise known as the beauty berry? This amazing super fruit is great for skin, hair and nails, high in essential fatty acids, a powerful antioxidant, great for cardiovascular health and high in protein and amino acids. NOTE: Make sure you find a pure source with no sugar added.

There are whole foods that you can consume to improve the health of your body and ultimately counteract the effects of aging.

….and the most important part of this whole equation is loving ourselves! When we value who we are and acknowledge are unique gifts and talents, we will naturally gravitate to a more positive outlook on life and choose paths that will only enhance our beauty.

Cheers to great health!
